DAY 5 - 9. I'VE BEEN BUSY!

Not much to report. It’s been a busy week with a photo shoot on Wednesday and hosting an event at an Expo on Friday.

I managed to get through both without a glass of champagne! Hoping next time I’m photographed I’ll be looking slimmer and much more comfortable in my own skin.

At the expo on Friday I was presented with tonnes of alcohol, chocolates, cakes and biscuits. All my favourites, and I wasn’t even tempted.

The HIGHLIGHT of this week though was weighing myself on Saturday morning. 1.8 kilos down! That was since my last weigh-in 6 days ago. Stoked!

This weekend my fiancĂ© and I also tried pilates and yoga. We loved both and are going to focus mostly on pilates for now. I’m looking forward to seeing and feeling the benefits.

I’m spurred on after week 1’s loss. Today I am going walking with a friend then to a pilates class. Let’s do this!

DAY 4

Today I spent about half an hour in Coles browsing the health food aisle. The ONLY thing that was sugar, wheat and dairy free was a breakfast cereal! Ugh!

i was hoping for chocolate.

Not feeling much different yet. Gosh I hope I do.

Here’s what I ate;

Breakfast: Muesli with LSA and soy milk.

Lunch: Mexican bowl with black beans, rice and salad.

Dinner: Gluten free gnocchi.

Snack: Baked beans.

A billion cups of herbal tea. I’ve bought a variety.

No exercise today as it was raining. Hopefully I can change that tomorrow!

This week is incredibly busy in and out of work. I’m hoping week two will be easier when I’m feeling more in control of my schedule.

DAY 3

First day at work on the detox. Waking up at 3am was hard, but hey it always is!

I had breakfast about 6am which was gluten free muesli with LSA and soy milk. Bought a vegan salad mid morning with plans to eat half for lunch and half for dinner. The funny thing was I wasn’t hungry when lunch time arrived so had to force myself to eat!

Sipped on Green Tea all morning.

Late in the afternoon I got really hungry and chowed down on rice crackers... they tasted good. Too good. So I checked the ingredients list. SUGAR! How could this be? My “sugar free” friends east them all the time! My “shopping list” from my “detox” colleague has rice crackers on it. I discussed with a sugar free friend who says the TINY percentage of sugar is minimal. A few grams. I’m still disappointed. Will eat them as little as possible.

Dinner was the rest of the vegan salad. I am proud of myself. This is hard!

On Friday I am hosting an event and taking part in a stage/comedy debate at a large venue. I’ve just realised I’ll now have to do this with no glass of champagne in hand to ease the nerves. Eeek!

DAY 2

This sounds ridiculous, but I’m proud of myself for making it through 2 days so far!

My diet usually consists of a lot of bread, pasta and alcohol. Terrible, but that’s the truth.

Today I had a slight headache and felt sleepy at lunch time. I had to have a nap at midday!

I had an afternoon tea to attend for a birthday. I brought along a big bottle of sparking water to sip while everyone else enjoyed wine and cake. Feeling very tired.

Breakfast: Smoothie with Banana, blueberries and soy milk.

Lunch: Gluten-free Gnocchi with Tomato sauce.

Dinner: Baked Beans with spinach leaves stirred through.

Snacks: Rice crackers and grapes.

DAY 1.

After reading a series of tweets from a colleague in our Sydney office...I’m inspired! This woman has done a detox that lasted a month.

Here it is: NO SUGAR, NO WHEAT (GLUTEN), NO BOOZE, NO COFFEE AND NO DAIRY. For 28 days. Sound crazy? Almost impossible? Well after some research (the internet never lies), I’ve found this could help clear up my skin, and drop some of the fat that’s been lingering around my belly.

I’m getting married next year, and working early mornings in a busy news room (3am start), I’ve found it a struggle to maintain a healthy, balanced diet. I’m ALWAYS tired, ALWAYS hungry and often stressed. This leads to a lot of bread, chocolate and beer being consumed during the week, plus a sneaky wine or few on weekends.

I’ve been told to start the “detox” on a weekend, as I’ll feel headaches and a lack of energy in the first few days.

So here’s day 1.

Breakfast: Rolled oats with a sprinkle of cinnamon and a dash of soy milk.

Lunch: Home-made hummus (my first time – amazing! EASY too), carrot and celery sticks and rice crackers.

Dinner: Ar a Thai Restaurant. I shared a Green Curry (vegetarian) with some steamed rice. Watched my boyfriend enjoy a beer while I sank a 750ml bottle of sparkling mineral water.

I’m trying to beef up my exercise too, so we went for a bike ride in the afternoon.

Day 1 done! Can I do 27 more?
